Optimism

OP, the governance token of Optimism, one of the largest Ethereum layer 2 networks. Transactions on Optimism are paid for in ETH, so OP's role is voting: holders govern protocol upgrades, treasury spending and grants for the Optimism Collective. The network runs on the OP Stack, the open-source rollup framework also used by chains such as Base, and OP was airdropped to early Optimism users starting in 2022.
