NVIDIA (NVDA), the designer of the graphics chips that most AI models are trained on, earning the bulk of its money from data-centre accelerators bought by cloud providers and AI labs, and the rest from GeForce cards for games and from professional graphics. It designs the chips and has them manufactured by outside foundries. Its CUDA software, introduced in 2006, is the standard way to program them.
