AST SpaceMobile

AST SpaceMobile (ASTS), a satellite company building a network that reaches unmodified phones, so a handset out of range of any tower connects to a satellite instead. The plan is to sell that coverage wholesale to mobile operators; AT&T, Verizon, Vodafone and Rakuten have signed up. Abel Avellan founded it in Midland, Texas, in 2017, and a test satellite made the first space-to-phone call in 2023. ASTS on Robinhood Chain is a Robinhood Stock Token, a tokenised debt security issued by Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited and backed by AST SpaceMobile shares held in custody at Alpaca Securities.
