BABA, Alibaba, the Chinese group behind the Taobao and Tmall marketplaces, which hold no stock themselves and earn commissions and advertising money from the merchants selling on them, alongside AliExpress and Lazada abroad and Alibaba Cloud. Jack Ma started it in 1999 in a Hangzhou apartment with seventeen others, and its 2014 New York listing raised $25 billion, the biggest IPO to that date. BABA on Robinhood Chain is a Robinhood Stock Token, a tokenised debt security issued by Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited and backed by Alibaba shares held in custody at Alpaca Securities.
